Instagram influencer Jean the Book Dragon reveals her naughty and nice list (don't miss it!)
Jean the Book Dragon is a rising star on Instagram, garnering over 50,000 followers in just the past year. What are her followers hungry for? Clean books: Books without steamy sex scenes, raunchy language, or explicit content. And that’s exactly what Jean delivers. This sassy bookworm reviews books and tells her audience which ones to avoid like the plague and which ones are safe to devour with wild abandon.
You’ll get to know Jean the Book Dragon better in an upcoming post, but I wanted to get her top picks to you NOW, in time to buy (AND NOT BUY!) for Christmas. (Christmas break is a great time to break open a book!) Some of the most popular books this year are definitely on the naughty list, so make sure to check out Jean’s recommendations below before purchasing for the children in your life! In our recent interview, I asked Jean: What three or four book series would you most highly recommend?
Jean the Book Dragon: “A lot of series that I love are also currently unfinished and I can’t guarantee that they’ll continue to be clean. So, I’ll recommend my three favorite finished series”:
-Dragon School, by Sarah K L Wilson
-Lockwood & Co., by Jonathan Stroud
-Ranger’s Apprentice, by John Flanagan
Me: Are there any book series that you suggest families AVOID?
Jean the Book Dragon: “Yes! There are quite a few series I would avoid. The most sexually explicit ones also happen to be some of the most popular right now. Such as:
-A Court of Thorns and Roses, by Sarah J Mass
-Throne of Glass, by Sarah J Mass
-Fourth Wing, by Rebecca Yarros
-Shatter Me, by Taherah Mafi
Jean says, “These are some of the most sexually explicit books I’ve come across, and unfortunately, they are also the most popular right now, taking the book community by storm.” Parents beware.
There you have it straight from the fire-breathing jaws of the expert herself!
I can personally vouch for the Rangers Apprentice series Jean recommended. We read the first one aloud as a family and loved it. The books appeal to both boys and girls and are adventurous, captivating, and just plain good!
Jean says, “I’m so thrilled that I get to help fellow readers find clean reads that they’ll be able to escape into!”
