When I started this Substack journey, I promised to offer you little glimpses into my life. I haven’t done much of that yet, so here is a little glimpse that might buoy you up this Thanksgiving. It’s a short excerpt from my journal, November 19, 2014:
“Life continues to be good. It is finally getting cold, and it has even snowed. This increases my gratitude for a nice, warm, cozy HOUSE. I’m so grateful to go to bed every night between soft flannel sheets in a warm room and wake up every morning in a sturdy house where the heater is running and a hot shower awaits me.
We truly are so SPOILED.
And we have abundant food, and time for leisure, and the best literature on our shelves, and the best music loaded on our electronic devices, and electricity to run all our devices and to light our path wherever we go.
People of ages past must look down on us and wonder why—when we have everything they ever might have wanted—we are so unhappy. There is every reason in the world to be happy.”

I hope—even amid your struggles—you are finding every reason in the world to be happy :)
Happy Thanksgiving!!
